Diving Into the Flint & Genesee Chamber Survey
February 26, 2026
At the heart of the work the Flint & Genesee Chamber does is collaboration. Because of that, the Chamber has become a reliable source of support and resources. In 2025, a survey was sent to members to better understand Chamber members’ needs and how membership benefits are being used.
“I feel getting out in the community opens our eyes to the needs and happenings in the community,” one respondent answered. “The connections we make face-to-face are the most impactful for creating long-lasting partnerships.”
According to the 2025 Flint & Genesee Chamber Year-End Survey, 45% of respondents have been Chamber members for 3 years or less. 31% of respondents have been members for more than 11 years. When it comes to membership benefits, members take advantage of networking events, business directory listings, Chamber committees, and the member-only portal.
“As a newer business, being listed in the directory helps me get my name out into the community,” says one member.
Among the findings was that 72% of respondents could tie new clients back to their membership. It was also found that one business received a high percentage of its local events through connections from the Chamber. Most members stay connected through Chamber events, while others get their information through the “Monday Morning Email” or social media.
“Serving on committees enables me to share my expertise while expanding my visibility and connections within the business community,” a member responded.
It was found that members took advantage of offerings that were available through Flint & Genesee Education & Talent, such as training. The professional development most of the members were interested in focused on leadership, sales, grant writing, economic trends, networking, workplace culture, and media training.
Members are interested in seeing business-to-business discounts, volunteer opportunities, and matchmaking events between members. It was also suggested that first-time attendees to luncheons or other networking events might benefit from the assistance of Chamber Ambassadors. Members are also interested in learning about new business developments, new business and compliance laws, government contracting, and business development.
It’s clear that Chamber members are using the resources offered by their membership to the fullest. The Chamber team is thankful to everyone who participated in the survey and looks forward to making your membership even more beneficial.
