Flint & Genesee Chamber Ambassador Spotlight: Kelly Miller, Corporate Giving Officer, Flint Institute of Music (FIM)
October 20, 2026
Kelly Miller is no stranger to community work. Having served as a chamber ambassador in other communities where she lived, she found it a natural fit to become an Ambassador with the Flint & Genesee Chamber.
“I like to be a community cheerleader,” she said. “When a new business opens, it's exciting, but it's also a little bit stressful, and I like to be able to meet the new businesses and start to promote them and find out more about what they do so I can share with others and just really kind of rally around the new businesses and help them to thrive.”
What made you want to be an Ambassador?
I love to go to the ribbon cuttings, and I love to know what's going on. I love being able to connect with people and know what's going on in the community. I've been an ambassador for other chambers. I lived in Nashville and was an ambassador there, and then when I lived on the west side of the state, I was an ambassador there. So, as soon as I moved back here and realized they had an ambassador program, I was excited to get involved.
What do you like most about being an Ambassador?
I grew up in Flint and in Flushing, and I feel like I've arrived now that I get to do the work I do with the FIM and am an Ambassador. I love being able to support local businesses and the city that I love so much.
That's my favorite part. It's familiar to me, the businesses, and I know a lot of people in the community, but it's also really just about being able to be where I grew up and watching Flint, and Genesee County, just watching it thrive.
Why do you think being a member of the Chamber is so important for a business?
I feel like the first thing you should do is join the Chamber. There's just so much support you will get from the Chamber staff and from Ambassadors in getting the word out about your business.
